Keeping Your Whole Team Certified: CPR Training for Norcross Dental and Urgent-Care Practices
Local Guides
For a practice manager in Norcross, keeping the team’s CPR certification current is as much a scheduling problem as a training one. Different roles need different courses, cards expire on different dates, and nobody can close the practice for a morning. This guide is for dental practices, urgent-care centers and physician offices working out how to keep everyone current.
Match the course to the role
- Clinical staff — dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, nurses, medical assistants and providers — usually need BLS, the American Heart Association course for healthcare providers.
- Front-desk and administrative staff who act as designated responders are usually better served by Heartsaver CPR/AED.
Your practice’s policy decides the details. For dental assistants in particular, check with your office manager which course applies; if you are unsure, call us and we will help you confirm.
Three ways to train a practice
1. Seats in our classroom. Staff book individual seats at our Lilburn classroom on the dates that suit them. Good for small teams, or for covering new starters between group sessions.
2. On-site group training. We bring the manikins, AED trainers and instructors to your practice and train the team together. On-site sessions are priced per group with a minimum headcount — call us with your team size and we will tell you whether on-site training or classroom seats makes more sense.
3. Your own instructor. A practice that trains often may find it simpler to have someone on staff qualify as a BLS instructor. It requires a current BLS Provider card, the AHA Instructor Essentials course, the BLS Instructor course and a monitored teaching session, and every instructor is aligned with an AHA Training Center.
Keep one list of card dates
American Heart Association cards are valid for two years. A single list of each staff member’s card dates, with a reminder six weeks ahead of each, prevents the month when half the team lapses at once — and makes it easy to group renewals into one on-site session.
Scheduling without closing
For on-site training, we build the schedule around your working day. Running the session twice, or splitting the team across two dates, keeps the practice open while everyone trains.
